Terms of Service
These terms cover the use of Puttfor by hosts, volunteers, and guests. Puttfor is operated by matterunknown LLC. By using the site you agree to what is written here.
The service
Puttfor helps a host run a charity golf outing: publish an event page, collect entries and gifts through Stripe, and keep score during the round. The host is the organizer of the event and the recipient of net payouts. matterunknown LLC provides the software.
Accounts
Hosts and volunteers sign in through our authentication provider. Keep your credentials confidential and let us know if you think an account has been used without permission. You are responsible for the actions taken under an account you control.
Host responsibilities
- The event and the charity are yours. You are responsible for accurate event information, tax receipts you offer, and any regulated activity (such as raffles) tied to the event.
- You must connect a Stripe account that you are entitled to operate and keep it in good standing. Payouts and refunds flow through that account.
- You must have the right to use any logo, image, or team name you upload, and you must not upload anything unlawful or abusive.
Payments and fees
Purchases and team gifts are processed by Stripe as destination charges. Puttfor keeps a platform fee on each purchase (the current figure is on our Pricing page). Stripe’s own processing fees and payout terms apply on top of that. Card refunds are issued through Stripe by the host. Platform fees on refunded purchases follow Stripe’s standard behavior for destination charges.
Guest purchases and gifts
When a guest buys a store item, mulligan, or team gift, they are entering into a transaction with the host’s Stripe account and, by extension, the host’s charity or event. Puttfor is not the merchant of record and does not itself take possession of contributed funds.
Acceptable use
You will not use Puttfor to:
- Run events, sales, or fundraisers that are illegal where they take place.
- Impersonate a charity, host, team, or golfer without permission.
- Break, probe, or overload the service, or attempt to bypass rate limits, security, or access controls.
- Send spam, or unsolicited marketing, through the service.
Content on event pages
Hosts retain ownership of the event content they upload. By uploading, you give matterunknown LLC a non-exclusive license to store, display, and process that content as needed to run the site (including hosting logos, team names, and player names on the public event page).
Termination
You can stop using Puttfor at any time. We can suspend or end access if an account or an event violates these terms, if a payments provider requires it, or if we are required by law. If we end access, we will try to give you a chance to export or reconcile the data you need.
Warranty disclaimer
Puttfor is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, matterunknown LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenues, or data, arising out of or related to the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the platform fees you paid to us for the event that gave rise to the claim in the twelve months before the claim.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. The exclusive venue for any dispute that a court hears is the state or federal courts located in Sheridan County, Wyoming, and both sides consent to personal jurisdiction there.
Changes
We can update these terms as the product changes. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Continuing to use Puttfor after a change means you accept the new terms.
